What Is The Net Worth Of Jesus Christ When He Was ON Earth As A Man

What is the net worth of Jesus Christ when he was on earth as a man?

The value of my relationship with Jesus Christ surpasses by far my net worth.

"What is the net worth of Jesus Christ when he was on earth as a man?"

Jesus' net worth was exactly zero.  For one thing, he was homeless.

Luke 9:57-58    As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

The money from the offerings collected by his  disciples went into the money bag, which was in the possession of Judas, who later betrayed Jesus.  The Apostle John, in his Gospel, said that Judas had been stealing from the money bag.

John 12:3-6     Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.” He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.

Some medieval Bible scholars believed that Jesus didn't even own his clothes, and are said to have participated in physical fights over this point.  (This concept is dealt with in the Umberto Eco film, "The Name of the Rose.")  I was however, unable to find a historical reference for this.

Some proponents of "The Gospel of Wealth" say that Jesus had money and even owned a house, but that statement is worthy of ridicule, and not even worthy of discussion, except to say these people just want to convince poor Christians to give them money.

Jesus was essentially poor. Before His ministry its likely He made enough to get by, but thats about it. After He started His ministry He had no money and was homeless. He says "the Son of Man has no place to lay His head" (luke 9:58), and in another place we see him send peter to catch a fish with a coin in its mouths to pay the temple tax (matt 17:27).
As an itinerant preacher he likely subsided off of the donations and hand outs of his followers. We see him invited to stay at various peoples houses, invited to dinner parties, and the like.
So his net worth as far as physical assests, was nil.

In Mark 12:14-17 there is an instance where the pharisees wanted to test Jesus on his stance on whether the Jews shall pay tribute to Rome or not:

They came and said to Him, "Teacher, we know that You are truthful and defer to no one; for You are not partial to any, but teach the way of God in truth. Is it lawful to pay a poll-tax to Caesar, or not? "Shall we pay or shall we not pay?"

But He, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, "Why are you testing Me? Bring Me a Denarius to look at." They brought one. And He said to them, "Whose likeness and inscription is this?" And they said to Him, "Caesar's." And Jesus said to them, "Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." And they were amazed at Him.

A Denarius at Jesus' time should be an equivalent to $3.6 of today's money. What would you call a person today who has not even 3 bucks to his name? Yes, dirt-poor.

For me, all these are examples of how His Kingdom is truly not of this world!

The net worth of Jesus on earth was zero. in the bible, Matt 17:24, when Peter was asked about Jesus paying tribute, Jesus instructed Peter to go and get money from the mouth of a fish. Matt 17:27 "However, so that we do not offend them, go to the sea and throw in a hook, and take the first fish that comes up; and when you open its mouth, you will find a shekel. Take that and give it to them for you and Me".

That was the only time the Bible recorded about Jesus having anything to do with money. Note that the currency denominations those days were three; i.e, Gold Shekels, Silver Shekels and Shekels (dime). Shekel was actually the unit. Jesus had to send for a shekel (which was the minimum).

Besides that, He was always being taken care of as a guest in people's houses (Zacheus, Martha, Nicodemus, etc)

To Tiberius Caesar, Jesus was worth his life, which was a huge price tag.

He was upset that Pontius Pilate did not keep Jesus from being crucified because Tiberius had “worms” from eating unclean food and was dying. When he heard Jesus was a healer, his anger boiled and it was considered treason that Pontius Pilate let him be crucified.

Jesus was homeless and completely penniless.  He always went to sleep in the outdoors at night, and He had to ask for a coin to illustrate whose portrait was on it.  (When He stated "render unto Ceasar, that which is Caesars, and to God that which is God's).

What the Bible tells us that Jesus was born into an ordinary family and they wouldn't have had much wealth.  It is also silent on how the gifts of the Magi were used.  What I can say is that Jesus didn't have any material wealth, and there is nothing to suggest he did.
