Couple Arrested For Selling Guns To Armed Robbers

A personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, Mrs Gloria Ogbonna; her husband, Mr Frank Ogbonna were on February 28, 2018,  paraded by the Imo State Police Commissioner for supply of arms and ammunition to armed robbers and kidnappers.

This is even as a four-female ex-convict syndicate were paraded for child stealing and trafficking.
Ogbonna was alleged to have confessed to supplying arms to criminals who in turn used them it to unleash mayhem on their victims.
He, however, said he only serviced arms and ammunition for his clients, insisting that his wife was unaware of his dealings.

However, Mrs Ogbonna denied knowledge of any dealing in arms and the suspected criminals, saying they were separated for many years, and that upon reunion, she had no access to his room.

According to her, as a staff of NSCDC, she was serving in a division adding that she had no dealings with arms and ammunition.
The female ex-convicts syndicate namely: Chiamaka Ukeje, 22; Sandra Ezuka, 26; Ruth Solomon, 41 and Joy Edum, 45, were arrested following the stealing of five years old Chinagorom Ndukwe who hails from Umuduru in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area alongside Chiamaka.

The syndicate had sold little Chinagorom to Joy Blessing Edum of Rumuwara Obiakpo in Port Harcourt area of Rivers State for the sum of N350, 000.
According to Chiamaka, she kidnapped the little girl in order to get at her uncle and his wife for fighting her father.
Another suspect paraded was one Kingsley Chukwuemeka who escaped alongside late robbery kingpin, Henry Nwabueze popularly called Vampire from the Owerri high court on January 27, 2017.

Kingsley was alleged to be in possession of firearms illegally.
According to him, after escaping with Vampire from the court, they were dropped off somewhere with an admonition that should sort out themselves henceforth.
He lamented that after the escape, there was nothing for him to do, saying he did all sorts to keep body and soul together.
A total of 60 persons were paraded yesterday for various crimes ranging from kidnap, child stealing, armed robbery, cultism; while tens of exhibits which included cars, arms and ammunition, and other weapons recovered were displayed.
